Updated June 2026 · iPhone & iPad · iOS 17.6+

Muka is a pregnancy food scanner app for iPhone. Scan a barcode or snap a photo and get a 3-second verdict — safe, in moderation, or avoid — with the reason and a safe alternative. The food-safety check is free and unlimited, based on official guidance.

Standing in the grocery aisle wondering “can I eat this while pregnant?” is exhausting. Instead of searching food by food, point your phone and know in seconds. See the full app on the Muka home page.

How the scanner works

1. Scan or snap

Point your camera at a product barcode, or photograph your plate. The analysis starts on its own.

2. Get your verdict

Safe to eat, in moderation, or best avoided — with a clear reason: listeria, toxoplasmosis, mercury, caffeine…

3. Find a safe swap

When a product isn't recommended, Muka suggests a safe alternative from the same family.

What it checks for

  • Listeria (soft cheese, deli meat, smoked fish, raw-milk products)
  • Toxoplasmosis (raw or undercooked meat, unwashed produce)
  • Mercury (high-mercury fish such as swordfish, marlin, shark)
  • Caffeine (the ~200 mg/day limit across coffee, tea, soda)
  • Alcohol and unpasteurized products

Free, with optional Premium

Scanning food for safety is free and unlimited, with no ads. An optional Premium plan (5-day free trial) adds nutrition and pregnancy weight-gain tracking.
